NUR 231 - Acute Care Concepts (6 credit hours) Offered in Fall term (3-0-9) Further develops the concepts within the three domains of knowledge, skills and attitudes. Emphasis is placed on the concepts of grief- loss, violence, health-illness-wellness, collaboration, managing care, safety, advocacy and evidence based practice. Priority areas of care will include well to frail elder management, sensory perception, maximizing mobility, and developing advanced care plans related to end of life and chronic care conditions. Obesity as an emerging area, which affects a broad range of individuals will be emphasized. Upon completion of this experience, students will be able to provide advanced holistic care to individuals and their families in a variety of acute care settings.
