NUR 103 - Introduction to Pharmacology for Nurses (2 credit hours) Offered in Fall term (2-0-0) An introduction to the general principles of pharmacotherapeutic agents and how they are used in the treatment, maintenance and restoration of wellness among diverse individuals across the lifespan. Instruction focuses on the effect of specific drugs on body systems. Special emphasis is on the principles of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in the treatment of selected illnesses with respect to practice of nursing. Concepts of safe administration including drug dosage calculation and monitoring the effects and side effects of pharmacotherapeutic agents are addressed.
