This program is designed to prepare individuals for various careers in welding. The general education and a part of technical skills coursework is completed through North Central with remaining technical skills coursework being completed through our partnership with Industrial Arts Institute, Inc (IAI).

North Central Michigan College: 36 Credit Hours

General Education Requirements: 12 Credit Hours

Program Requirements: 24 Credit Hours

Industrial Arts Institute, Inc. (IAI): 24 Credit Hours

Basic Welding, Introduction to Blue Print Reading, Fabricating/Machining and Welding requirements must be completed through IAI.

Suggested Sequence for Full-Time North Central Students:

Semester I (Fall)

ARTS 102 - Basic Drawing and Composition (3 credit hours)
B 104 - Business Math (3 credit hours)
COM 170 - Interpersonal Communication (3 credit hours)
MFG 100 - Machine Shop Technology Foundation Level (3 credit hours)
IAI - Basic Welding (3 credit hours) (To register for the welding courses students must contact the Industrial Arts Institute (IAI) at 989-733-4369 and make an appointment for a pre-admission interview.)

Semester II (Winter)

IAI - Introduction to Blue Print Reading (3 credit hours)
IAI - Fabricating/Machining (3 credit hours)
