The traditional role of design has been to improve the visual appearance and function of communication. Communication is created through visual messaging, where Communication Design refers to any works produced through: architecture, editing, typography, illustration, web design, time-based media, advertising, branding and identity design, and graphic design. This Associate of Applied Science degree prepares students for entry into the creative industry as well as transfer to a four-year art and design program.
