Minimum training and education requirements for the certification of Firefighter I and II as a firefighter established by Michigan Firefighters Training Council. Upon completion, the student will be eligible to test for State Certification as a Firefighter I/II Firefighter which is the minimum certification required to be employed as a firefighter in the State of Michigan.
Student is also required to complete English and Communication courses to enhance job functions in public service and community relations.
Prior to being offered a position, a student must submit to a thorough background investigation. If offered a position, the student must also pass a medical exam, a drug screen and a physical fitness test.
