DHY 260 - Community Dental Health (2 Credit Hours) Offered in Winter Terms (1-1-0) This course develops the knowledge and skills necessary for planning, delivering, and evaluating community-based oral health initiatives. Students will assess the oral health needs of diverse populations, identify influencing social and cultural determinants, and design evidence-based strategies to improve outcomes. Emphasis is placed on program planning, implementation, and evaluation in non-traditional and public health settings. Students will apply professional communication, ethical decision-making, and cultural competence while engaging with community partners. Participation may require evening, weekend, or holiday commitments for outreach events or service-learning experiences.
