ENG 231 - American Literature Pre-Civil War (3 credit hours) Offered in Winter Term-Even years only (3-0-0) A survey of American literary works from the Pre-colonial Period to the Civil War. In addition to poetry and fiction, genres studied include exploration narratives, journals, slave narratives, religious literature, oratory and political writing. The course includes works by authors of Native American, African American and European American descent.
