Associate of Science (AS) Concentration in Medical and Health Sciences

Associate of Science (AS) with MTA Transfer

Program Code: 454 ∙ Credit Hours: 60-61 ∙ Contact Hours: 70-71
Dean: Brent LaFaive

The Associate of Science with a Concentration in Medical and Health Sciences degree provides students interested in Medicine, Veterinary, Dentistry, Physical and Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant, and Medical Technology careers an opportunity to begin their education at NCMC. This will provide students with significant cost savings while providing a top-tier academic experience where courses are taught directly by their professors. This will allow for more personal attention and support before students transfer to larger colleges or universities. The objectives are to prepare students for higher-level science courses after transfer. Another goal is to use this degree to form partnerships with colleges and universities that allow our students a guaranteed transfer of their NCMC credits for full program credits into a college or university program.

Program Learning Outcomes:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of broad-based science concepts for entry into four-year transfer degrees.
  2. Identify options for transfer into desired medical or health-related fields.

The program prepares students for transfer in the following areas:

Exercise Science, Pre-Vet, Pre-Med, Pre-PT, Pre-OT, Physician’s Assistant, Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Med-tech.
